PAINTING AND TRAVEL with Roger & Sarah Bansemer

#1101 Bass Harbor
Sarah and Roger take a summer road trip in the north east stopping along the route to see small towns, go sailing in Cape Cod, take in the view from Cadillac Mountain in Acadia national Forest and visit to the Bass Harbor Head Light Station which Roger decides to paint using acrylics to capture the rugged location.

#1102 Clark House, Part 1
Sarah spends time with an historian in Palm Coast Florida at the Florida Agricultural Museum learning about the pioneers who homesteaded in the 1890s. She tours the old farmhouse interior seeing how the family lived and worked. Roger uses acrylics to paint the front of the house including a fence designed to keep the chickens in.

#1103 Clark House, Part 2
Sarah concludes her visit to the Florida agricultural museum in Palm Coast Florida with a tour of the Clark house kitchen where pies were cooked in the woodstove and the laundry was washed on the dog trot porch. Using acrylics Roger finishes his depiction of the rugged 130 year old farmhouse and includes a pioneer farmer.

#1104 Head Turner
Sarah finds out what a hand crafted rat rod is when a friend comes to Saint Augustine Florida for a car show. Charlie explains how he repurposed discarded car and truck parts to create his one of a kind of vehicle. Roger does a quick sketch on location then heads back to the studio to paint the Head Turner.

#1105 Monarch Butterfly
Sarah learns about the stages of the Monarch butterfly from Brittany who raises them on milkweed in her backyard where she has helped hundreds develop to maturity and fly away. Using acrylics Roger captures the monarchs beauty while it rests on a flowering butterfly bush.

#1106 Florida Citrus
Sarah learns about the introduction of citrus to America’s oldest city, Saint Augustine Florida where the fragrance of the orange blossoms and the delicious fruit are in high demand. Sarah displays colorful desserts made with oranges lemons and limes. Roger uses oils on canvas to create a still life painting featuring oranges, blossoms and leaves.

#1107 Mackinac Island
Sarah and Roger drive to Northern Michigan and board a ferry to the famous summer resort of Mackinac Island. After seeing the Main Street shops they tour the island by horse drawn cart stopping at the antique carriage museum. Using acrylics Roger re-creates a memorable scene from their trip.

#1108 Limón Marketplace
Sarah and Roger board a cruise ship sailing to Limón, Costa Rica. They walk around the city park listening to tropical birds and spot a sloth high up in the palm trees. After shopping in the colorful marketplace filled with activities and vendors Roger decides to paint the produce stand using acrylics.

#1109 Wagons in 1800 Town
Sarah visits 1880 Town, originally built as a movie set for a Western then later moved to Jackson County South Dakota where it’s become a History Museum attraction filled with antiques and artifacts from the old West. Using acrylics Roger paints a scene of rustic wagons in a barn with soft light filtering in.

#1110 Florida Waterways, Part 1
Sarah learns about Florida waterways from the Matanzas river keeper who monitors the health and conditions of the river and also observes the native birds and rich wildlife that inhibit the area. Roger begins a large landscape on canvas using oils to depict the magnificent Florida wetlands.

#1111 Florida Waterways, Part 2
Sarah goes to the Saint Augustine Alligator Farm, home to many birds as well as 800 alligators and crocodiles to meet a three year-old American alligator and talk to his keeper. Roger makes progress on his large Florida wilderness landscape painting with oils adding details.

#1112 Florida Waterways, Part 3
Sarah returns to the St Augustine Alligator Farm to watch the action at feeding time and later learns about the alligators diet, habits and lifespan from an experienced keeper. Using oils, Roger adds an egret in flight finishing his large Florida Waterways painting.

#1113 The Horseman
Sarah goes to the Florida Agricultural Museum in Palm Coast to meet an experienced horseman and hear about his 30 year career as a jockey. Jack expresses his love of horses and passion for racing. Roger decides to take some close-up photos of Jack and use acrylics to paint his portrait.
