How far would you go to learn? Whether it’s to master a foreign language, try a new food or fully experience a culture other than your own - almost half a million students study abroad annually and are reaping tremendous benefits from the experience. The pilot episode of Globe Scholars follows students from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City New Jersey during their study abroad trip to Cuba. The students are documented and interviewed while they visit Havana, Viñales and Varadero Cuba. While there -- they learn not only engage with Cubans and learn about Cuba’s rich history and the revolution that followed – they get to see tobacco fields up close and personal, attend a baseball game, dance the night away at the legendary Tropicana and so much more. This episode features award winning Cuban filmmaker Inti Herrera and University of Havana Professor Benito Albisa.
